Arsenal's XI if Armando Broja and two more sign as Chelsea star refuses to rule out move

Arsenal will need a new centre-forward for next season after missing out on Dusan Vlahovic in January. Express Sport understands via a source that the Chelsea star has not ruled out a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer with the Gunners one of the clubs interested in the Albanian. With Mikel Arteta set to be handed a big transfer budget in the summer, Express Sport looks at how the Spaniard could field if he lands multiple targets.

Goalkeeper: Ramsdale

Many laughed when Aaron Ramsdale signed for Arsenal from Sheffield United.

The shot-stopper had been relegated twice in two consecutive seasons with Bournemouth and the Blades, with many perplexed as to why the Gunners bought him.

But after replacing Bernd Leno in the line-up quite early on in the season, Arsenal have risen from the bottom end of the table into Champions League contention.

And Ramsdale has placed a huge part in that, on the pitch and in the dressing room.

Defence: Lamptey, White, Gabriel, Tierney

Takehiro Tomiyasu has impressed at right-back for the Gunners, although as he is primarily a centre-back, Arsenal would love to bring in a right-back with more attacking prowess.

Lamptey has been linked in a £50million move and could line up alongside countryman and former Brighton team-mate Ben White at the back.

Elsewhere, Gabriel Magalhaes continues as the leader of a young but talented defence which has been hard to breach in recent months.

And the ever-consistent Kieran Tierney completes one of the best defences in the league, which would have plenty of attacking threat out wide if Lamptey was brought in.

Attack: Saka, Broja, Martinelli

Arsenal’s two wingers have been superb in firing the Gunners back up to the higher end of the Premier League table, especially England’s Bukayo Saka.

The London-born forward, 20, has seven goals and four assists for Arteta’s men this season and is growing in stature.

Brazilian talent Martinelli has also become more prominent in recent months after his return from a knee injury and has thrived out on the left.

And the physicality of Broja, only 20 himself, could help the Albanian form one of the deadliest young attacks in the world should he make the switch from west London.

It is understood Broja is not against leaving Chelsea permanently and he is currently thriving for Southampton, for whom he has scored seven times in his first Premier League campaign this season.

That decision failed to pay off, however, with the Red Devils sacking Moyes after just 10 months in charge.

After the current West Ham boss came Van Gaal, who arrived with big things expected due to his past success at the likes of Barcelona and Ajax.

Giggs was hoping to get the Red Devils job himself, which was why he stayed, but both ended up leaving nearly six years ago.

When Jose Mourinho took over, he opted to maintain his close relationship with Rui Faria – who had previously worked under him at clubs such as Real Madrid and Chelsea.

Fair departed in the summer of 2018, though, with Michael Carrick then given a place on Mourinho’s bench.

Carrick stayed to work under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the Norwegian also regularly picking up the thoughts of Phelan and Kieran McKenna throughout his spell in the dugout.
